Our story

OOFT is a wife and husband duo from Lithuania and Scotland with a design and multimedia background. Emilija and Michael wanted to amalgamate both of their individual skills and develop a product together, and so OOFT was formed. With Emilijas digital experience in 3D and Michael’s background in product design, utilizing 3D printing as a manufacturing means was a logical path, and a product direction was all that was left to find.

Michaels approach to design is founded on the belief that every detail is important, especially parts of an object which the user interacts with directly, and so developed custom solutions for the lamp switches on his lighting pieces. However, after many years going to design fairs and high end craft/design exhibitions the pair began to notice that a high percentage of limited or one off lighting pieces used a simple off the shelve solution for the on off switch, which we felt distracted from the design as a whole and it was at this point their direction was found.

Most of the off the shelf on and off switches are injection molded cases with a push switch function. OOFT decided to create a more adaptable 3D printed case that housed a toggle switch as their first release. The toggle switch was chosen as it was Michaels preferred method used in his lighting and there was next to no cased options in the market.

After launching their first switch the pair will continue to 3D printed solutions for other light switch types and would love to work directly with other designers to create custom solutions for their beautiful lighting projects.
